Safety and the Environment

The policy in terms of safety, the environment and working conditions at Neville Chemical Europe is focused on observing the law and, as an integral part of the company policy, on continually improving staff working conditions and the care for a liveable environment.

In 1993 we signed an environmental covenant with the government. On the basis of this covenant, we update our environmental policy, the Business Environmental Plan, every four years. Every year we publish a public report on the environment. We are also in regular contact with the authorities.

As well as the Management Team, Neville Chemical Europe also has Safety Environment Work and Quality Personnel. These employees are playing an advisory role to the line organization for Safety, Environmental, Working Conditions and Quality issues. The line organization is responsible for the realization of the policy.

Within the safety organization the Company Relief Organization (CRO) is also playing a major role. The CRO covers the Company’s Fire Brigade, First Aid, Evacuation Supervisors and Assembly Co-ordinators. A major aspect of the CRO is the Company’s contingency plan. This is an instruction set used in emergencies to take immediate and effective action, and to bring everything back under control as soon as possible. The contingency plan describes the tasks of the co-ordination team that swings into action.

The enterprise will make sure it is familiar with any relevant legislation and regulations.
